UK profitability lifts economy
 

British companies are more profitable than ever, according to the latest report from the Office for National Statistics.

The overall rate of return in 2014 was at its highest level for two decades. The services sector, which makes up the majority of our economy and accounts for 78 per cent of GDP, hit 16.7 per cent profitability last year – the highest result on record.

Moving forward, this means Britain could become the most profitable company base in Europe – which is highly promising news for the UK economy as profitability is a fundamental measure of success, and prosperous businesses are at the core of continued economic growth.
