UK GDP Growth | PM’s Trade Mission to Asia | DHL Customs Tips

UK GDP Growth
UK GDP increases in second quarter

The Office for National Statistics has announced that Britain’s GDP has grown by 0.7 per cent in Q2 2015, following 0.4 per cent growth in Q1; there was also a 2.6 per cent growth on Q2 2014.

Economists have suggested that this increase is due to stronger consumer spending and an increase in industrial production, as well as the services sector. However, British companies are being urged to boost exports in order to support UK economic growth.

In addition, market research company Nielsen has said that consumer confidence is up for the sixth consecutive quarter.

David Cameron on trade mission to South East Asia

The UK Prime Minister, along with 31 UK business leaders, has been on a trade mission to South East Asia, starting in Indonesia. From 27 to 30 July, he aimed to forge links with the region’s increasingly growing markets for British goods and services.

Cameron said “over the next 20 years, 90 per cent of global growth is expected to come from outside Europe, and Britain must be poised to take advantage”. He added that business deals worth over £750 million would be made during the tour.

The PM was also expected to make headway on a Free Trade Agreement between the European Union and ASEAN, which could add £3 billion a year to the British economy.
