Welsh farmers benefit from multimillion-pound boost from China
China have agreed market access for UK beef by the end of 2019 which is set to give Welsh farmers a multimillion pound boost. Worth an estimated £230 million in the first five years alone, the move comes more than 20 years after the Chinese government banned UK imports of beef in 1996.
Secretary of State for Wales, Alun Cairns, said: “The opening of the Chinese market will open up exciting opportunities for Welsh beef producers who, as a result of the agreement, will soon have access to one of the world’s largest economies.”See more
Indian sport presents exporting opportunities to British businesses
Last week, the Department for International Trade (DIT) welcomed an India-UK sports delegation to showcase opportunities for British sporting exporters. Global exports of British sporting equipment are at an all-time high, rising by 10 per cent to £500 million in 2018. New data from DIT has also shown exports of sporting goods to India increased by 30.6 per cent in the same period.
India is the UK’s 11th largest export market outside of the EU, accounting for £7.5 billion of existing investment in the UK. This means there is exponential potential for growth in British sports exports to the region.Read more
