UK will play a pivotal role in shaping 21st century trade
On 30 November International Trade Secretary, Dr Liam Fox, called for MPs to look beyond current divisions and deliver Brexit. “Now is the time to raise our sights, and acknowledge that there is a world beyond Europe, and a time beyond Brexit.”
The secretary also said that an extensive revolution in the patterns of trade has already arrived, with global commerce patterns shifting. He emphasised the importance of future free trade agreements and how they would be vital economic tools in the long run.Read more
DIT – Google partnership to deliver export education series
The Department of International Trade have announced a new partnership between the Exporting is GREAT campaign and Google, which will see the delivery of an exporting education series for 2000 SMEs in 2019. Training will focus on helping businesses grow their digital export operation, finding new global opportunities, setting up new export operations and marketing.
Speaking at the launch of Google’s Digital Garage initiative in London, the Minister of State at the Department for International Trade, Baroness Fairhead, said: “This exciting initiative between Google and the GREAT campaign will give SMEs up and down the country the opportunity to gain valuable insights into how to start or expand their export operations.”See more
British firms on track to score World Cup deals in 2022
British businesses will play a major role in ensuring a successful 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar. The Department of International Trade has already helped British companies to secure £940 million in related exports.
The UK has secured World Cup contracts due to expertise in project management, design, architecture, supply chains and a track record of delivering the world’s biggest sporting events. The UK-Qatar partnership also hopes to support a number of opportunities for UK businesses to help Qatar’s National Vision for 2030.Discover more
