UK-Japan Free Trade Agreement plans
With the government’s ambition to ‘secure free trade agreements with countries covering 80% of UK trade within the next three years’, it’s working hard to secure bilateral trade agreements around the world, and last week released its Strategic Approach to a UK-Japan Free Trade Agreement.
As the world’s third-largest economy (in 2018, NCTAD: GDP), Japan presents a great opportunity for UK businesses. A UK-Japan Free Trade Agreement could increase trade by £15.2 billion and the textiles, agriculture and techonology sectors have been identified as particular areas that could benefit.
The first round of discussions will start shortly using video conferencing until it is safe to travel.Learn more
