Preparations begin for new UK-Israel trade deal

The UK government will begin their eight-week consultation with businesses and the public before negotiations with Israel begin later this year, as they look to build on their £4.8 billion trading relationship.

A new deal would aim to strengthen bilateral trade, particularly in industries like digital, services and life sciences, and seize new opportunities in education, healthcare and food and drink exports, by lowering tariffs and granting better market access to the country.

“This new trade agreement is part of our commitment to build a stronger relationship with Israel and is a huge opportunity to deepen ties with a fellow democracy and tech superpower so together we can create well-paid, high value jobs in both countries,” says Anne-Marie Trevelyan, Secretary of State for International Trade.
