Growth in UK exports hailed as a win for every part of the UK

The latest Office of National Statistic figures showed that UK exports rose 9.2 per cent from April 2017 to the end of March 2018.

On a trip last week to Scotland, International Trade Secretary, Dr Liam Fox, said: “It’s clear evidence the world wants to buy high-quality UK goods and services, and my department is putting the country in a position to benefit.”

Exports continue to grow faster than imports with the overall trade deficit narrowing by £13.3 billion to £26.6 billion.

Baroness Fairhead attends Chinese Silk Road Expo

Minister of State for Trade and Export Promotion, Baroness Fairhead, opened the British Pavilion at the Silk Road International Expo in Xi’an, where the UK has been awarded the country of honour.

The minister highlighted the support that is available for British companies seeking to export to China. “The Belt and Road initiative is creating opportunities for British businesses across Asia, and the Department for International Trade will continue to offer support through Trade Missions, our award winning export credit agency UK Export Finance and”
