UK secures vital rollover trade deal with Canada

On 21 November International Trade Secretary Liz Truss secured an agreement for a continuity trade deal with Canada. The UK and Canada locked in their existing trading relationship worth £20 billion; in 2021 a new tailor-made and more ambitious trade deal will be developed.

In 2021 both countries will negotiate to improve on the existing EU-Canada agreement. The deal will be tailored for the British economy with the potential to go further in areas including digital trade, women’s economic empowerment and the environment.
