UK and Chile sign continuity agreement

An arrangement that will see British businesses and consumers benefitting from trading arrangements from Chile was signed last week by Her Majesty’s Ambassador to Chile, Jamie Bowden, and Chilean Foreign Minister, Roberto Ampuero. This certainty will help to further strengthen the trading relationship between the UK and Chile which was worth £1.8 billion in 2017.

UK, France and Germany create payments system to trade with Iran

A new payments system has been set up by the UK, Germany and France to allow European businesses to trade with Iran. Based in France and managed by a German banker, the three countries and Iran hope to enable companies to continue trading. Many existing payment channels have links to the US, which means making payments to Iran is difficult.

Foreign Secretary, Jeremy Hunt, says the new system will reserve sanctions relief for people of Iran. “This is a clear, practical demonstration that we remain firmly committed to the historic 2015 nuclear deal struck with Iran for as long as Iran keeps implementing it fully.”
