Trade ties strengthened in Turkey
The Trade Secretary, Dr Liam Fox, has travelled to Turkey to further strengthen the UK’s trade relationship with the country. Dr Fox met with President Erdoğan to discuss how the two countries will continue to build a strong trade relationship post Brexit.
Turkey is a key market for the UK with total trade in goods and services accounting for £14.5 billion in 2016. The UK is Turkey’s second largest export market and some of the UK’s biggest businesses including Vodafone, Rolls Royce and Diageo are all present in the country.
Global economic growth set to increase
The World Bank predicts that global economic growth will expand by 3.1 per cent in 2018 following a stronger than expected 2017. This will be the first time that growth will be operating at its full potential since the financial crisis.
The bank’s president Jim Yong Kim said: “The broad-based recovery in global growth is encouraging”.
DHL looks towards an autonomous future in 2018
Working closely with AI computing company NVIDIA and ZF, one of the world’s largest automotive suppliers, DHL has developed its own electric delivery vehicle, the DHL StreetScooter, in an effort to start testing autonomous delivery vehicles.
DHL Supply Chain has also placed an order for ten Tesla Electric Class 8 Semi Trucks, making them one of the first third-party logistics companies to do so. Testing will begin in 2019.
