Trade opportunities in South and Latin America

Last week Minister of State for Trade and Export Promotion, Baroness Fairhead, met key Brazilian and Argentinian businesses and government ministers to discuss the UK’s commitment to trade and investment with the region.

With trade already at healthy levels, there are significant opportunites for British businesses to build on strong trading ties. Brazil is the world’s ninth largest economy and UK exports rose by 4.7 per cent in 2018 to reach £5.8bn, while exports to Argentina rose by 4.1 per cent to £807m.

Rapid change in Fast Fashion

Driven by digital catwalks, online flash sales and click-to-purchase options on social media, fast-fashion sales have grown 20 per cent over the last three years.

2018 marked the first time that more than half of apparel and footwear sales originated outside of Europe and North America, instead coming from emerging markets across Asia-Pacific and Latin America.
