The South East dominates the tech industry
The UK’s digital tech sector has soared with exports of goods and services rising 15.3 per cent, now worth £55 billion. The Digital Sector contributed £130.5 billion to the UK economy in 2017 and accounts for nearly a quarter of all UK exports.
Companies across the South East of England in particular are experiencing export success and seeing an increased global appetite for their quality products. Latest HMRC regional statistics show that all goods exports from the South East increased by 4.84 per cent to £47.7 billion for the year ending March 2019.See more
Surge in UK strawberry exports
British strawberries have seen a record 56 per cent leap in export value, with a record £3.9 million of fresh British strawberries shipped in 2018. The Netherlands emerged as the largest market, growing by 361 per cent between 2017 and 2018.
International trade secretary Liam Fox said: “As Wimbledon starts, and with the ‘Great British Summer of Sport’ in full swing, I am delighted that Britain’s exporters are serving up a treat, with more people than ever before enjoying classic British strawberries and cream.”Read more
