Nigeria and Pakistan receive £140 million investment
UK Trade Minister Greg Hands met with Pakistan’s Minister of Commerce, Muhammad Pervaiz Malik, and Nigeria’s Minister of Industry, Trade, and Investment, Dr Okechukwu Enelamah, in London at the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting.
New investments were announced as Pakistan and Nigeria joined the 53 nations attending the meeting, with the benefits of intra-Commonwealth trade high on the agenda. The £140 million investment will boost jobs and economic development in the Commonwealth’s growing market.Learn more
UK and South Africa trade relationship
Last week the South Africa Minister of Trade and Industry, Dr Rob Davies, met with his UK counterpart Dr Liam Fox in London to discuss the trading relationship between the UK and South Africa.
International Trade Secretary, Dr Liam Fox, said: “We will build further on our £9 billion of annual trade with South Africa, our biggest trading partner in Africa, and champion free trade to help developing countries combat poverty and grow their economies.”
South Africa welcomed the UK’s intention to avoid any disruption to trade and to work together to advance sustainable economic development.Find out more
