Britain has a tradition of supporting global expos, and the latest Expo 2020 Dubai presents another opportunity to showcase the best of Britain. The theme for the first World Expo to take place in the Middle East will be ‘Connecting Minds, Creating the Future.’
International Trade Secretary Dr Liam Fox said: “The festival will be a major showcase for the UK in the Middle East, and a shop window for the best of our creativity and innovation.”
Expo 2020 Dubai takes place between 20 October 2020 and 10 April 2021; 180 nations will take part and there is an expected footfall of 25 million visitors.Find out more
DHL supports an agenda for values-led trade for the Commonwealth
Over the last six months DHL has supported an inquiry into how the Commonwealth could help developing countries trade out of poverty. Steven Pope at DHL was invited by the All Party Parliamentary Group for Trade Out of Poverty to serve as a Committee Member.
The final findings of the report have been published ahead of the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting 2018, which will take place in London on 16 April. Key topics for the 2018 summit include harnessing trade to build a more prosperous world and continuing to protect and promote the shared values of the commonwealth.
The inquiry report deals extensively with the importance of improving trade facilitation by implementing the World Trade Organisation’s Trade Facilitation Agreement, getting ready for e-commerce and expanding intra-Commonwealth trade and investment.
