SME international trading tips | Trade Minister in Mongolia | The mcommerce switch

International trading tips for SMEs from SMEs
The Telegraph Small Business Connect community recently canvassed international trading tips for SMEs from companies who have been there and done it. Small and medium sized businesses shared advice from their experiences of taking the plunge and trading internationally, and amongst the five top tips were seeking support, adding a personal touch and utilising local networks.
Emma Heathcote-James, founder of The Little Soap Company, says: “don’t be afraid to ask for help, because there’s so much available.”
One of her recommendations for support is the Government’s Department for International Trade and the Exporting is GREAT programme. The DIT provided Emma with integral advice on legislation and even funding, which allowed her to develop her ecommerce platforms to be fit for international markets.

International Trade Minister, Mark Garnier, visits Mongolia
The UK’s International Trade Minister, Mark Garnier, has recently become the first Trade Minister to visit Mongolia. The visit took place from 31 March to 1 April and discussions were held on subjects including ways to support the bilateral trading relationship and investigating areas to grow future opportunities.
Throughout the trip, the Minister emphasised that the UK is a significant economic and export partner for Mongolia.
Mongolia has vast potential for economic growth and the Department for International Trade says the UK is ready to help companies both in Mongolia and companies exporting from the UK to go from strength to strength.
Why mcommerce is integral for your ecommerce business
In 2015, Ofcom announced that more Brits were browsing the web on their smartphones than any other device; Business Zone look at why this stat is so important for ecommerce businesses to take note of.
At first, it seems like mcommerce is an extension of ecommerce, but as it evolves it is clear that consumers shop differently on smartphones. People’s patterns of use now influence the way websites are written and your ecommerce site may need to change to catch up.
Modern mcommerce affects consumers of all ages, most products and both impulsive and comparison style shopping. This means that ecommerce stores need to shift to catch up. Find out if your business is ready.
