QITO Q1 2018 | British business in the Gulf | Sell more and spend less

Quarterly International Trade Outlook for Q1 2018
Last week, the British Chambers of Commerce (BCC), in partnership with DHL, produced its Quarterly International Trade Outlook (QITO) for Q1 – January to March – 2018.
The findings of the latest QITO report showed that in the manufacturing sector, export sales and orders increased, but in the services sector, they continued to slow slightly. The volume of trade documentation increased by 2.24 per cent on Q4 2017 and stands at the second highest level on record.
In his foreword to the report, Ian Wilson, DHL Express UK & Ireland CEO, said: “The opportunities available for UK businesses trading with Europe and beyond are incredibly strong, with e-commerce providing unrivalled reach to new customers across the globe.”

Trade Secretary promotes British business in Gulf countries
Last weekend, International Trade Secretary, Dr Liam Fox, visited Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates to promote UK projects worth £30 billion to investors.
These countries are strong investors in the UK; trade in goods and services between the UK and UAE is worth £14.6 billion. Bahrain is also a country of huge potential with trade amounting to more than £740 million.
After setting up the UK-GCC trade and investment group, this visit is a clear sign of the importance of the UK’s economic relationship with the Gulf Cooperation Council and aims to boost British trade within the region.
