National Trade Academy Programme | UK-Mexico trade | SMEs and robots

DIT launch National Trade Academy Programme
Today, the International Trade Secretary Dr Liam Fox launched the National Trade Academy Programme to help more businesses export.
The Department for International Trade (DIT) has helped UK companies to start or grow their exports, and in the last year alone this effort has created 64,000 new jobs and safeguarded a further 28,000 by attracting investment into the UK. Through introducing this new programme, the DIT hope to inspire the next generation of exporters.
The National Trade Academy Programme will offer a variety of new learning opportunities to upskill and engage students, businesses and academics. The Programme will help promote a culture of exporting through building international trade and investment-related skills and knowledge across the UK.

Enthusiasm grows for UK-Mexico partnership
The Mexican Chamber of Commerce recently held Mexico Day 2018 where Graham Stuart, Department for International Trade (DIT) Minister, met with Mexican Embassy officials to discuss the UK-Mexico Commercial relationship ahead of a potential future trade agreement.
Mexico is already the UK’s second-largest trading partner in Latin America, after Brazil, and the desire for British firms to enter the Mexican market or expand their operations there has gathered pace in recent years.
The DIT is taking extensive steps to ensure that all UK and Mexican companies have the means to realise their ambitions and UK Export Finance has doubled its country limit to Mexico to some £5 billion.
Why SMEs are embracing robotic technology
Robot technology has reached a tipping point and is now driving profit and productivity for more smaller businesses. As production increases, prices are expected to dramatically fall year-on-year.
Not only are they getting cheaper, but smaller too. Cobots – small, inexpensive robots – can be programmed to work safely alongside their human colleagues and are putting industrial robotics within reach of many smaller businesses.
