Key markets for UK biz | China economic growth | E-com trends for 2017

 
Department for International Trade identifies key export markets
 
International Trade Secretary Liam Fox emphasised to British businesses that they should seize more export opportunities around the world and highlighted 50 markets which offer the strongest potential.
 
In Fox’s words, “From technology in India to aerospace in the USA, there’s no shortage of demand and UK businesses have the knowledge, skills, and expertise to truly add value and make the UK a partner of choice.”

China reports 6.7 per cent economic growth for 2016
 
China, one of the world’s largest economies, grew by 6.7 per cent in 2016 according to the country’s Vice Finance Minister Zhu Guangyao. The Chinese government attributes this growth to increased government spending.
 
China is confident that this strong rate of economic expansion can be maintained and that the country’s demand for raw materials as well as manufactured items will also continue to grow – which is good news for British businesses looking to trade with this market.

The big e-commerce trends of 2017 according to DHL
 
Charles Brewer, CEO of DHL eCommerce, has made his projections for what e-commerce retailers should look out for in 2017.
 
He foresees a rise in chatbots (automated website chat agents); predictive analytics to better understand shoppers; and virtual shopping experiences. Brewer also discusses the rise of omni-channel shopping – for example, Google found that in the US, 85 per cent of online shoppers start a purchase on one device but finish it on another.
