Go global with e-commerce | Middle East | DHL Rugby Challenge

Using e-commerce
Make global e-commerce work for you
Last week, we discussed tips for tapping into Germany’s e-commerce market, which Practicology shared at the Cross-Border E-commerce event earlier this month. However, the event went significantly beyond selling to Germany – speakers from Global E, Marks & Spencer, Wiggle, Digital River, UKTI and Green Man Gaming also shared advice for businesses looking to go global through online retail.

The panellists touched on the many things you need to take into account when taking your e-commerce international, including which elements to localise first, how to deliver a user experience that results in conversions, and how to leverage USPs such as ‘Made In Britain’.

E-commerce boom imminent in the Middle East
By embracing digital transformations businesses can increase their revenue by up to 30 per cent – countries across the Middle East are already seeing the benefits of using technologies to diversify their economies. The Internet of Things, big data, predictive analytics and mobile technology are quickly evolving into core elements of business and the region is starting to see a genuine e-commerce boom.

As one of the fastest growing regions in the world, the Middle East’s economy is expected to exceed US$ 30 billion by 2018. This new digital economy accounts for around US$ 450 billion of the global GDP from traffic and trade flows per year, so it’s a great time for British businesses to explore this market.
