Global outlook strong for 2017 | M-commerce boom | Philippine economic growth

Global growth
Goldman Sachs: World economy set for positive expansion in 2017
According to the Goldman Sachs 2017 Macroeconomic Outlook, global growth is expected to be at 3.5 per cent this year.
This trend is set to be led by the US, with continued 2 to 3 per cent growth, while 1.5 per cent growth is projected for the Euro area. In terms of emerging markets, China’s economy is poised to expand by a further 6.5 per cent, Brazil is on the road to recovery and India, despite the currency reforms, will also be a key driver.

M-commerce holiday sales continue to accelerate
According to Adobe Digital Insights, an unprecedented US $24 billion (£19.5 billion) in sales made between 1 November and 20 December 2016 took place on mobile devices. 68% of these took place through smartphones and 32% were made on tablets.
To ensure retailers don′t miss out, the report highlights how to make the mobile user experience as smooth as possible with options such as single-click checkout, financing services, and unified offline-to-online experiences.
Economic growth in the Philippines
Philippine economy reports strongest growth in Southeast Asia
The total value of goods and services in the Philippines grew by 6.7 per cent in 2016 – and the 7.1 per cent Q3 economic growth was the highest in Asia.
This growth has largely been fuelled by the government’s focus on building stronger relations with China and Japan, which has resulted in foreign investment from these countries. Increased infrastructure investment and an expanding call-centre industry are further setting up the country for sustainable growth.
