Exporting in style | Theresa May visits Canada | DHL Fashion Award

UK fashion exports top £10.7 billion
London Fashion Week ran from 12-19 September and welcomed over 59 major fashion buyers from around the world. 2016 was a strong year for exporting fashion goods, boasting the highest figure on record with £10.7 billion in exports. The demand for British goods are high; specifically in three major trade lanes of the USA, Hong Kong and Australia, amounting to £1 billion in 2016.
To build on this export success, the Department for International Trade (DIT) has collaborated with the British Fashion Council (BFC) to give British designers access to high profile buyers from established international markets.

Theresa May visits Canada to discuss post-Brexit trade talks
Theresa May and Justin Trudeau are expected to discuss plans for a post-Brexit trade deal, with the Canadian Prime Minister calling for a “seamless transition” to a new trading relationship with the UK. The visit comes ahead of a deal between Canada and the EU – the Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (Ceta) – which comes in to force today.
The Prime Minister hopes to use Ceta as the model for a bilateral trade deal for when the UK is excluded from Ceta after Brexit. Mrs May and Mr Trudeau are expected to set up a new joint working group to prepare the groundwork for a separate deal.
DHL finds International Fashion Potential at London Fashion Week
On Tuesday, in partnership with the British Fashion Council (BFC), DHL Express announced the winner of the DHL Award for International Fashion Potential at an exclusive London Fashion Week event at The Store Studios.

After careful consideration from the judging panel, RIXO London was announced as the Award winner.
Following the win, Creative Directors Henrietta Rix and Orlagh McCloskey said: “Winning the DHL Award for International Fashion Potential is a huge accolade […] The prize money will enable us to streamline and improve our direct selling opportunities through our website […] We’re really looking forward to receiving support from DHL and the BFC to help us overcome some of the challenges the world of ecommerce brings.”
