Online shopping on the rise in Japan

According to research by IPG Mediabrands, e-commerce continues to grow in Japan. 41 per cent of the audience surveyed, which ranged in age from 15 to 74, described themselves as online shoppers.

The report also reveals that more than 28 per cent of the respondents aged 70 to 74 own and use smartphones. Across demographics, the respondents use smartphones for tasks including online shopping, internet banking, watching TV, sending seasonal greetings, and managing their health.

DHL project lead Leendert van Delft commented: “It’s always nice to be a part of a winning team – but it’s way more important to be part of innovation like this.”
