Black Friday 2016
Making the most of Black Friday and Christmas

According to research from QVC, 1.5 million London consumers have already begun their Christmas shopping.

This year, Black Friday takes place on 25 November. It’s now a key date for purchasing gifts and as such is one of the most lucrative days of the year for retailers, both in-store and online.

Now is an ideal time to plan your promotional activities and offers, gear up for the Christmas peak, and engage with shoppers ready for the festive season.

DHL Business Live: E-commerce and Fashion

London Fashion Week showcases over 250 designers to a global audience of influential media and retailers, resulting in an estimated £100 million of orders placed each season.

With this in mind, DHL recently hosted a panel discussion on how e-commerce is transforming retail businesses. Panelists included James Doyle from Marks & Spencer, Nir Debbi from Global-e, and DHL Express UK VP Sales, Neil Kuschel.

Advice included focusing on a higher number of markets, subsidising taxes out of your product price, offering express delivery and tracking, and making your returns process easy.

Asia-Pacific drives global online retail

There are US$ 770 billion worth of e-commerce transactions made annually in the Asia-Pacific region. The region is set to drive global online retail during the next five years as internet penetration and adoption of new technologies increases.

Asia is seeing significant social media activity from Millennials – the group most likely to embrace cashless payment methods. 83 per cent of online purchases in South Korea are paid by card, whilst 48 per cent of transactions in China are made using e-wallets – which allow consumers to store multiple credit card and bank account details securely, making payments faster.
